Snow Canyon & Kolob Canyon

I was planning on posting these pictures as soon as we got back since we haven't really put any new pictures on for a while besides Blair's snow caving pics, but I obviously did not. We went to St. George for a couple days from the 13th to the 15th, and we spent some time doing our first hiking of the year at Snow Canyon and Kolob Canyon, which is part of Zion's. We got a new camera for the occasion since our other one got broken on the snow caving expedition, and it is so nice. It allowed us to take some really awesome pictures of the amazing geography of southern Utah.

This was a random big pit on our hike. Blair is standing in front of the hole at the end of the pit, which looked like it was pretty deep, but it actually only went down 20 feet or so. But it looked pretty cool.

This was the feature of our hike on the Whiterocks Trail, the Whiterocks. They looked really cool.

This was the view from the top of one of the Whiterocks hills that we climbed to the top of. It was such a nice day, and look how blue the sky was! It was kind of funny, though, because between the last picture and this picture we got lost for a minute. The trail went down into a dried up creek bed, and we ended up following it for a little while and then we got lost from the real trail. But we eventually got back on the right trail, so it was all good in the end.

After the Whiterocks Trail, we went on the Johnson Canyon Trail. There were some really awesome cliff walls in the canyon, as well as an arch towards the end.

Here's a self photo of us with the arch in the background. This is Blair's 'getting ready to smile' face. Incidentally, he pulled that face a lot on this particular hike for some reason.

Here's a nicely posed shot of Blair with a historic cabin on the Taylor's Creek hike in Kolob Canyon. It was a good hike, but we hiked in snow for probably a mile or so, and parts of the trail were a little iced over.

But we ended up getting some good shots and a pretty decent hike, despite the snow. As you can see, we really appreciate the timer function on our camera since we are often taking pictures when it is just the two of us. We had a really fun weekend in St. George, and it was a nice vacation to start off the hiking season. And thanks to Wade & Sara and Tyler & Harmony for letting us stay with you. It makes our trips down there even more enjoyable when we get to spend time with good friends and family.
